To whom it may concern,
Do you have any news or updates regarding obtaining temporary AMKAs?
Over 55’s opened today and yet I don’t know a single person who has a temporary AMKA? The registration list is now thirteen thousand. And growing. It was 1188 when I first registered two weeks ago. If the system was ‘real’ and working, I would have been issued my temporary number to utilise from today.
Clearly, they are ONLY making a list and NOT actually giving out numbers.
Our accountant heard of ONLY ONE person in all the island who managed to get a temporary AMKA.
Does ANYONE in Kefalonia, at government level, actually care about residents here – without AMKAs? We thought we were part of a community. Contributing to the island. Making it our home.
No one at KEP can help. They said register today. It doesn’t change anything. Just puts me further down the list. This seems like a very cruel joke.
Kefalonia Pulse writes – in ignorance – that they ‘suspect’ the ‘vast majority’ of foreigners can get vaccinated (& even suggest those who can’t only have themselves to blame!)
Untrue! Some of us are resident, but not long enough for ten year ‘permanent’ cards, not yet of pension age, so no S1, and not working – but using savings to help support the Kefalonian economy on a DAILY basis.
Are our lives worth NOTHING in the eyes of the Kefalonian / Greek government?
Clearly, this is not an isolated problem – as the Guardian newspaper article noted.
However, those in charge on Hydra did the only decent thing, the only humane action possible – they invited those in the correct age group, without AMKAs to attend vaccination clinics with passports, residence cards etc.
Are the officials in Kefalonia simply going to ignore us? Abandon us? Let us get sick, end up in hospital (isn’t that counter productive? more costly? ).
Are they happy to risk our lives?
